Volunteering

If you have a little free time, want to become involved in the community, meet people and make new friends, volunteering at the Shop may be just the thing for you.

The Community Shop relies on volunteers to provide its amazing service for the village. They are the DNA of our community shop and are the only way we can keep a viable shop and post office in a village of our size. An enthusiastic team of volunteers has taken ownership of everything from sorting the newspapers in the mornings to operating the till and serving customers with a smile. The roles are fun, friendly, stimulating and give a real sense of doing something to benefit the village. It truly is a team effort and it makes the Shop a great place to volunteer as well as, of course, to shop.

It would be brilliant if we could recruit some more volunteers to join the team! Broughton Community Shop needs you!

The Community Shop is definitely an asset to the village. It is well used and is a lifeline for some of Broughton’s residents. And evidence suggests that, having a village shop, adds 5% to the house prices! If you can, please consider offering a few hours weekly, fortnightly or however often you can spare – you do not have to give a weekly commitment. Full training is given and support is always available. No experience is necessary.

If you can’t offer to help as a Shop Assistant but want to support the Shop, please consider helping behind the scenes, sorting newspapers in the mornings, setting up the Shop before it opens, helping to unpack deliveries at lunchtimes, placing orders with our suppliers. All of these roles are just as essential as part of the operations that underpin the Shop and keep it open!
