Community
Broughton Community Shop is a Community Benefit Society. This means that, rooted in its constitution, there is a commitment to supporting good causes in the local community. As a not-for-profit organisation, after overheads, expenses, reinvestment in the business and maintenance of sufficient cash reserves, any trading surpluses are to be used for the benefit of the community or donated to other organisations with similar community objectives.
The Management Committee discusses and decides on the dispersal of this fund at its monthly meetings. It welcomes and encourages applications from members of the community for monies to support good causes or projects within the community.

Completed applications should be sent to secretary@broughton.shop. Each application is considered on its merits and in the light of the funds available.
As part of supporting the community, Broughton Community Shop has established a green token system. Any spend over £5.00 at the retail till in the Shop enables the customer to add a green token to the ‘box’. Then, based on the accumulation of tokens, Broughton Community Shop then makes a much-needed contribution to a local good cause. The first collection of tokens enabled Broughton Pre-School and Primary School to benefit from a donation of £500!
Other contributions to the community include:
- Goodies for hampers in raffles to raise funds for Broughton Pre-School
- Take-away coffee cups for MacMillan Coffee morning
- Biscuits for MacMillan Coffee morning
- Donations to Andover Food Bank
